‘Beyond Baroque’
The first of four programmes in association with BBC Radio 3

The Jacques Loussier Trio

Programme will include interpretations of Bach Brandenburg Concerto no.5 in D, Preludes and Fugues from The Well-Tempered Clavier and Vivaldi ‘Spring’ from The Four Seasons

Celebrated for his jazz interpretations of Bach and other
Baroque composers, Jacques Loussier is unique and unclassifiable,
the first cross-over musician, whose performances
combine technical mastery and brilliant improvisatory skill.
Creator of the hugely successful Play Bach Trio in 1959,
Loussier continues to delight audiences worldwide with his
re-formed Trio in jazz clubs and concert halls alike and with
album sales of millions. His innovatory fusion of pianism and
jazz extends beyond the Baroque and this programme, with
improvisations on well-known Bach as its basis, will also include
pieces by Debussy, Ravel and Satie plus many surprises along
the way.

‘One can only marvel at the technical assurance of Loussier’s new group’
Sunday Times

‘The Trio swings and Loussier’s improvisations are as graceful
as they are evocative.’
Washington Post
