the Choir of Westminster Abbey
James O'Donnell

including
Biber   Requiem in A major

The Festival's annual visit to Westminster Abbey sees the institution's famous choir join the players of St. James's Baroque in an expansive and noble Requiem Mass by the Bohemian-born composer and violinist Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber. Originally written for performance in the no-less resplendent acoustic of Salzburg Cathedral, it is interleaved here with psalm-settings by 'father of German music' Heinrich Schütz and instrumental sonatas by Bertali and Biber himself.

'Choral singing at its finest and most inspiring.'
