Handel L'Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato
Handel's ravishing oratorio setting Milton's examination of the contrasting sides of the human personality - the lively and the pensive - contains some of the composer's most delicate and poetic evocations of English town and country, including the famous aria 'Sweet bird'.
