Orchestral works by two generations of the Bach family interwoven with arias from the recently reconstructed version of Bach's St Mark Passion and Italian operas by Handel, Hasse and Vivaldi.

Following the overwhelming success of their British debut last year, Italy's pre-eminent Baroque orchestra Europa Galante and violinist Fabio Biondi return to the Lufthansa Festival. They are joined by one of the most outstanding young singers to emerge in recent years, Czech mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kozená.
